It’s a misty morning with a frosty chill
My feet crunch the leaves as I walk the hill Into the forest many steps I take Then through a clearing I see the lake The water sparkles as the sun peeps through The breaks in the cloud reveal patches of blue Mist kisses the surface as insects dance Mesmerising patterns inducing a trance The only sounds are nature’s treat The birds, the breeze, branches that creak Tranquility brings to me such peace It warms the heart and gives release I sit awhile upon a log My mind clears and lifts the fog There’s so much beauty around me here It helps me treasure what is dear I turn around to find the track And through the woods I head off back The trees stand tall I smell the fern So much to see, so much to learn Not long before I reach the car It seemed like miles, but wasn’t far The traffic roars, the peace is shattered I’ve left the place where nothing matters |
