In 2016 we received what was to become the worst news; my wife Kathy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and during the following five years she slowly deteriorated until she lost the fight in March 2021.
Despite this cruel disease causing all sorts of difficulties, throughout this period we would still occasionally got out for walks and drives always wearing one of her 'trademark' hats. She was always happy being driven out with the roof down and the sun shining and somehow managed to keep her smile almost to the very end.
I'm finding it very hard to come to terms with my change of circumstances as I miss her so much but even though these words and sentiments are tinged with sadness, I find putting my thoughts to paper both reflective and a little comforting.
