The tinsel on the tree shimmers and shines
The festive season brings happy times Sharing love with gifts and treats Friends and families meet and greet But beneath the glitz and festive cheer There are those who long for someone dear Their family or loved ones may be afar For them there is no guiding star On the streets, in the doorways they make their bed The frost and the cold fills their hearts with dread. When you see them you get a lump in your throat So please spare a thought or a coin or a note If their plight is self-inflicted we still need to care As there’s probably a cause we may not be aware For no matter what you think or what you might say Christmas to them is just another cold and lonely day |
